Maria Fragoudaki
Maria Fragoudaki was born in Athens, Greece in 1983.
She studied Chemistry, Pharmacology and Business management in London, UK where she subsequently worked for a few years.
In her recent work, Maria Fragoudaki utilizes materials such as string, tape, latex, gloves and feathers to create three-dimensional, more sculptural pieces. Inspired by her mentor Gregory Coates and the art movement of the 1960’s known as Process art, Fragoudaki’s focus shifts from paint and the use of material to the material itself. With her choice of material, Fragoudaki investigates the concept of Haptic Perception and focuses on the sense of touch, which is by far the most interesting and necessary of the five senses
